Roof Family Statement
Really, Roof family? Words can't express your "shock, grief, and disbelief?" How about "Fuck!! This monster is part of our family."
But really Roof parents, how could you have seen this coming? Your son was just a normal 21 year old- he was arrested twice in one year, had a "history of anti-black views" and, like every 21 year old, he proudly wore his white supremacist, pro-apartheid jacket. Of course you couldn't see his red flags, he only liked showing off his white ones.
The Roofs sending thoughts and prayers to families of the victims is incredibly condescending, especially since nowhere in their statement do they acknowledge that they're related to the man who assassinated those victims.
You know when they probably did acknowledge being related to this terrorist? On his 21st birthday, when his parents said, "Happy Birthday, son, here's a .45, we love you."
Sending your thoughts and prayers to the families? Your thoughts are part of the reason why their loved ones were murdered. Thoughts like, "Hey, our son really hates black people. That's hilarious! Kids will be kids." And other thoughts like, "you know, he's only been arrested twice this year! For his birthday, our son deserves a gun."
Sending your thoughts and prayers?! A member of your family murdered 9 people and traumatized countless others while they were praying!
Roof family, if you truly want to show remorse, how about for your next statement say, "Our son is a racist monster, who is responsible for you never seeing the people you love again. While we aren't completely responsible for creating this monster, we did give the monster a gun and for that, we're fucking morons."
